When I stumbled across a Sharpie craft project on Pinterest, I was amazed at all the things you can creatively do with a Sharpie. Everything from mugs to shoes – even full size rugs! You’d have to be one patient person to Sharpie a full size rug. That is not an ideal project for someone as impatient as myself. I’m more of a 30 minutes-or-less-project kinda gal!
So when I found these navy blue multi purpose canisters at Kmart the other day, I knew they’d be perfect for a 5 minute Sharpie project. And at only $5 per canister, the loss wouldn’t be too hard to take if I screwed it up!
The canisters have a variety of uses: storage for tea & coffee, cotton balls & makeup remover pads, take the lids off and use them as make up brush holders or even planters for mini succulents!
I currently have an obsession for all things navy and gold, and these little canisters are a perfect accessory to tie in with my current colour scheme I’ve got going on in my living room.
To add more interest to my navy canisters, I whipped out my gold Sharpie and a herringbone patterned reusable stencil and got to stencilling.
It didn’t quite turn out as perfectly as I’d imagined but I think it adds more character! (That’s my motto for all my DIY fails. Character.)
As for what I’ll be using them for storage wise, I’m still not sure. Probably tea and coffee? For now they serve as decorative until I decide where to put them. And a constant magnet to my curious 2.5 year old who thinks all things ceramic and glass are fun to play with. Yep, I should probably move them out of reach before I regret it!
So, $5 navy and gold canisters, not bad for a 5 minute side project!
What would you use the canisters for? Have you attempted any sharpie projects lately?
